Liṅga Purāṇa
The Liṅga Purāṇa explores the meaning of the liṅga, the central sign of Śiva. Its best-known story tells of an endless pillar of fire appearing before Brahmā and Viṣṇu, neither of whom can find its top or bottom, revealing Śiva as beyond all limits. In two parts, it also covers creation, cosmology, Śiva's forms and devotees, yoga and the rites of Śaiva worship. Studying it clarifies the symbolism of the liṅga, often misunderstood, in the words of the tradition itself.
