About this course

Atharvaveda

The Atharvaveda, the fourth Veda, turns from the great ritual to everyday life. Its hymns, arranged in twenty kāṇḍas in the best-known recension, speak of healing and herbs, protection from harm, marriage and the household, and the duties of kingship, alongside deep philosophical passages such as the Pṛthvī Sūkta, the hymn to Mother Earth. Taught in the lineage of Maharṣi Sumantu and read with a Vedic bhāṣya, this course reveals the Veda's practical wisdom for body, home and society.
