About this course

Śiva Saṃhitā

The Śiva Saṃhitā is a classical haṭha-yoga text, presented as Śiva's teaching to Pārvatī; its human author is unknown. It combines a Vedāntic view of the Self with detailed practical instruction on the subtle body, the nāḍīs and cakras, prāṇāyāma, mudrās and selected āsanas, and it places yoga within reach of householders as well as renunciants. Studied with a Hindi ṭīkā, it offers insight into how medieval yogins understood body, breath and liberation. Practices are taught as tradition describes them, best undertaken with a qualified teacher.
