वराह पुराण
Varāha Purāṇa
Varāha Purāṇa
The Varāha Purāṇa takes the form of a dialogue between Viṣṇu as the boar avatāra and the Earth goddess, whom he has lifted from the cosmic waters. In answer to her questions, it teaches about worship, vratas, sacred days and the duties of devotees, and includes an extended praise of Mathurā, the land of Kṛṣṇa, among other tīrthas. Studying it shows how purāṇic teaching linked devotion to everyday observance and to the sacred landscape.
