अग्नि पुराण
Agni Purāṇa
Agni Purāṇa
The Agni Purāṇa presents itself as the teaching of Agni, the fire god, to the sage Vasiṣṭha. It is the most encyclopaedic of the purāṇas: besides the avatāras of Viṣṇu and summaries of the Rāmāyaṇa and Mahābhārata, it covers temple building and image making, ritual and pūjā, statecraft, law, medicine, gemology, grammar, metre and poetics. Studying it gives a panoramic view of the knowledge traditions that a purāṇa sought to preserve for its readers.
