About this course

Gopī Gīta

The Gopī Gīta is the song of the gopīs of Vraja in the thirty-first chapter of the Bhāgavatam's tenth skandha, part of the Rāsa-pañcādhyāyī. When Kṛṣṇa vanishes from the moonlit dance, the gopīs pour out their longing in nineteen verses of exquisite poetry, remembering his beauty, his deeds and his love. Revered as one of the highest expressions of viraha-bhakti, devotion in separation, it is studied here in Sanskrit with Hindi and English meaning, verse by verse.
