About this course

Harināma Mahāmantra

The Hare Kṛṣṇa mahāmantra, sixteen names of the Divine, is found in the Kali-santaraṇa Upaniṣad, which presents chanting the Lord's names as the path suited to the age of Kali. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu made congregational chanting (saṅkīrtana) the heart of his movement. This course explains the meaning of each name, the scriptural basis of nāma-bhakti, the difference between japa and kīrtana, and the traditional guidance on chanting attentively and avoiding offences to the holy name.
