About this course

Mahābhārata with Gītā

The Mahābhārata, traditionally attributed to Vyāsa, is one of the longest poems in the world. In eighteen parvans it tells of the rivalry between the Pāṇḍavas and Kauravas, the game of dice, exile and the great war at Kurukṣetra, weaving in countless stories and teachings on dharma. At its heart, in the Bhīṣma-parvan, stands the Bhagavad Gītā, Kṛṣṇa's counsel to Arjuna. Scholars see the epic as having grown over centuries. This course reads epic and Gītā together.
