About this course

Maṅgalācaraṇa

In the Indian tradition, study and worship begin with maṅgalācaraṇa, an auspicious invocation that calls upon the Divine, the guru and the deities of learning to remove obstacles and bless the undertaking. This course gathers well-loved invocations such as prayers to Gaṇeśa, Sarasvatī and the guru, and the Upaniṣadic śānti-mantras, including "Oṃ saha nāvavatu". You will learn their meaning, correct pronunciation and the reasons behind the custom, so that every session of study can begin with understanding.
