About this course

Pañcatantra

The Pañcatantra is a celebrated collection of fables attributed to Viṣṇu Śarmā, who, according to its frame story, taught nīti, practical wisdom, to the dull sons of a king through animal tales. Its five books cover losing friends, gaining friends, war and peace, losing what one has gained, and acting without due thought. Stories nest within stories, each sharpened by pithy verses. Translated and retold across many languages over centuries, it remains a delightful way to learn judgement, prudence and the art of living wisely.
