About this course

Rigveda

The Ṛgveda is the oldest of the four Vedas and among the oldest texts in any Indo-European language. Its 1,028 sūktas, arranged in ten maṇḍalas, were preserved orally by ṛṣi families for millennia. They praise Agni, Indra, Soma, Varuṇa, Uṣas and other devatās, and include profound reflections such as the Nāsadīya and Puruṣa sūktas. Taught in the lineage of Maharṣi Paila, this course guides you through its language, structure and vision, hymn by hymn.

What you will learn

  • How the ten maṇḍalas and ṛṣi families are organised
  • The major devatās and the meaning of key sūktas
