Suśruta Saṃhitā
The Suśruta Saṃhitā is the great classic of śalya-tantra, the surgical branch of Āyurveda. Tradition presents it as the teaching of Divodāsa Dhanvantari, king of Kāśī, to his disciple Suśruta. Its sections cover principles, pathology, anatomy, therapy and toxicology, followed by the Uttaratantra. It is celebrated for its descriptions of surgical instruments, training of students on practice models, and its account of nasal reconstruction. This course studies it as a landmark of the history of medicine, not as clinical guidance.
